Duncan Hosie

I am a legal scholar and writer. I study constitutional law and theory, with a particular focus on the impacts of political polarization and popular movements on constitutional interpretation.

I am currently a Steven Polan Fellow in Constitutional Law and History at the Brennan Center at the NYU School of Law. I previously practiced law as a Liman Fellow at the ACLU Ruth Bader Ginsburg Liberty Center, a law clerk to the Honorable Paul J. Watford of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and an associate in the Supreme Court & Appellate practice group of Orrick.

I received my B.A. from the School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University, my J.D. from Yale Law School, and two masters degrees as a Marshall scholar from the London School of Economics and Oxford.

Outside of the law, I am an avid backpacker and mountaineer. I have climbed nine peaks over 14,000 feet, including Mt. Whitney, Mt. Shasta, Pico de Orizaba, and Iztaccíhuatl, and love giving hiking recommendations for America's magnificent public lands.
